Do you know the cute cardboard robot Danboard? Danboard is a character from the huge hit manga Yotsuba&! that began serialization in 2003 and has over 10 million copies in print. Danboard’s body uses a simple design and is comprised of simple geometric shapes like circles and triangles, and its unique atmosphere has garnered it tremendous popularity. Danboard is currently sold as a variety of figures and goods. There may even be more versions of Danboard than there are of the manga’s main character, Yotsuba. Now, Danboard has been entirely recreated as a character costume by figure manufacturer Kotobukiya. And this Danboard that looks like it jumped straight out of the manga appeared in Akihabara. We went to check out Danboard’s presence and get snap-happy taking pictures!
Danboard will make routine appearances at Kotobukiya Akihabara-Kan from now until September. For those planning to come to Japan during this time, how about getting a picture taken together with Danboard? It will surely be a memory that will stick with you for years to come!
