It is now known that a Pokémon Center will open for a limited time in the capital of France, Paris, from June 4-21.
Pokémon Centers are specialty shops that sell Pokémon merchandise. They are known as the sole company store managed by The Pokémon Company.
The Sole Pokémon Company Store
There are eight Pokémon Centers throughout Japan. They sell not just goods, but also hold many rare Pokémon distribution events. The staff also lecture about how to enjoy Pokémon culture at the “Pokémon Card Game Class.”
At the limited edition Pokémon Center in Paris will be limited items that can’t be bought anywhere else, demos of the new Pokémon games, an exhibit of illustrations at various stages of production, and other content that Pokémon fans won’t want to miss. Pikachu will also visit the store.
This isn’t the first Pokémon Center to pop up overseas. However, the only overseas store, Pokémon Center New York, located at Rockefeller Center in New York, closed in 2005.
Even the New Games Are Set in France
Among the many countries of the world, France is known as a country with a particular fondness for Japanese culture. Of course, the popularity of Pokémon is strong, and further evidence is that the newest games, Pokémon X/Y, the first games in the series to release simultaneously worldwide, are set in a world modeled after France.
Speaking of Pokémon, it was just announced that two of the past games are being remade into new games called Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. These will release simultaneously worldwide this November.
Pokémon culture has extended worldwide. The strategies of Cool Japan, the aim of which is to extend Japanese culture overseas, have picked up attention thus far, and you won’t be able to take your eyes off where it’s headed.
