Hibito is Crying - Key Visual and Outline to Anime Movie Space Brothers #0 Release

Chuya Koyama’s huge hit manga Space Brothers is supported by a huge fanbase and has already been adapted into a live-action movie and TV anime. Now, this summer, the first full-length animated movie in the series, Space Brothers #0, will release nationwide in Japan on Aug. 9. This as well is already generating loads of anticipation. The movie features a new story written by author Koyama. Because it’s an originally written episode that ties in with the original work, fans won’t be able to take their eyes off it. From the movie’s title, it has already been revealed that it will be an origin story for the series.

On April 15, a portion of the story, which has been tightly veiled until now, was revealed. A key visual driving the point home was also released. The key visual was drawn by Koyama and shows Hibito’s and Mutta’s facial expressions up close. A single tear can be seen rolling down Hibito’s face. The poster also features the phrases “On that day, the dream faded” and “We will launch once more, with courage.”

Space Brothers #0 will depict legendary astronaut Brian Jay who appeared in the original manga and anime as a deceased friend. A large theme of the movie will be bereavement. Space Brothers follows the Nanba brothers who both wish to become astronauts. But there is one more set of “space brothers” in this story: the Jay brothers, Brian and Eddie. Brian’s life and death have a huge impact on the Nanba brothers. Space Brothers #0 will be a story of courage and goodbyes.

The key visual will be introduced to theaters as a poster on April 19. At the same time, advance tickets to the movie will go on sale. Included with the advance tickets on a first come, first served basis will be a rubber strap of the pug Apo.
