Babymetal will perform at this year’s Sonisphere Festival UK, a large-scale rock festival in England to be held from July 4-6, for the first time.
Headlining this year’s Sonisphere Festival UK are Metallica, Iron Maiden, and The Prodigy. Other distinguished artists on the lineup include Slayer and Dream Theater. Babymetal, who picked up attention after appearing on the front cover of a music magazine in England, were offered a spot on the lineup. Not only will they will be performing at the festival for the first time, they will be the only artists from Japan participating this year. In March, the band successfully performed two days of solo live concerts at Nippon Budokan, which is regarded as “Japan’s sacred place of rock.” Completing “Chapter 1” of their activities in Japan, the band will now perform for the first time in England, the birthplace of rock, and raise the curtain on “Chapter 2” which focuses on broadening their activities worldwide.
Along with this announcement, the band has also announced plans for their first Europe tour. Details on this will be released in the coming days.
