Crypton Future Media, the company famous for producing and selling Vocaloids, organized an event called Snow Miku 2014 and matched it with the duration of the 65th Sapporo Snow Festival held in Sapporo, Hokkaido from Feb. 5 (Wed) to 11 (Tue). The main character of the event is Snow Miku, who was designed under the concept of Hatsune Miku cheering on Hokkaido. Snow Miku has been created each year since 2010, and has spread from the center, Sapporo, to numerous other locations, with goods being sold and stage events and illustration exhibitions being held. To the fans of Hatsune Miku, this is the best winter carnival. So then, let us introduce the event in detail through pictures.
● Many Snow Miku goods made only for Snow Miku 2014!
There are many companies that participate in the event and sell Sbow Miku collaboration goods. Starting with the “Nendoroid Snow Miku Magical Snow Ver.” made by Good Smile Company which produces many Vocaloid figures, all companies represented themselves with various goods, such as Snow Miku illustration collections, clear files, and T-shirts. All of these are rare items specifically produced for this event.
● An exhibition of Snow Miku illustrations from many creators
At one of the venues of Snow Miku 2014, the Sapporo Factory Hall, there was an exhibition of illustrations published in the last four years at the event, the newest Snow Miku illustrations, and the most popular Snow Miku goods that were sold until now.
● Huge Snow Miku at Sapporo Snow Festival!
A huge snow statue that takes the “Nendoroid Snow Miku Magical Snow Ver.” as its motif was made at one of the venues of Sapporo Snow Festival, the Nishi-11-Chome site. There was a mini-show at night to liven up the statue which consisted of illuminating it and playing Hatsune Miku songs.
● Talk show, live performance, and other programs - A Sapporo filled with Snow Miku!
Besides the exhibition and selling of goods, there were many events that allowed the guests to enjoy Snow Miku and Vocaloids in various forms, including an autograph section by KEI, Hatsune Miku’s character designer; a live performance by Meiko Haigo, whose voice was used for the Vocaloid Meiko; a scribble corner for attendees; and a stamp rally. A lot of people gathered for all of the events, showing a lively atmosphere.
