“The Devil is a Part-Timer!” Episode 12 Recap: “The Devil Carries Out His Duties”

The Archangel Sarue Mitsuki aka Sariel and Suzuno capture Emi and Chiho. Realizing that he hasn’t received anything from Chiho, Sadao uses Urushihara’s transmitter and struggles to get to Sariel and the rest, who are at City Hall. There, Sadao confronts Suzuno.

Being an executioner of the Church of Ente Isla, Suzuno wields a giant mallet that she swings over and over again. Though she has been given direct orders by Sariel, the symbolic angel of the Church of Ente Isla, she is confused. Should Sadao really cut down Suzuno? Would that really be the right thing to do...?
(from the official episode guide)

The manager of the Sentucky Fried Chicken across from MgRonald where Mao works finally reveals her true form: the Archangel Sariel. Sariel had descended to Earth to take back the Holy Sword inside the hero Emilia’s body. Also, Suzuno, who had moved in next door to Mao, shows her true form of being an executioner from Ente Isla.

From the standpoint of judging evil, Suzuno faces off with Mao in his true form and can’t tell if he truly is an evil in the human world and her resolve begins to waver. Meanwhile, the newly awakened Olba, a rogue Archbishop in the Church of Ente Isla whom Mao had previously defeated, feeds off of Sariel’s power. Mao faces off against Sariel, but his magic has been drained. However, he feeds off of the fear of the city’s residents and is successful at fully recovering his magical power. How will this battle end?!
