“Code Geass: Akito the Exiled” Chapter 2 to Begin Screening in Theaters This September

“The Torn-Up Wyvern,” the second chapter to the anime Code Geass: Akito the Exiled, the first of four chapters to which was released last summer, will begin screening in Japan this fall. On Sept. 14, the anime will be released in 36 theaters throughout Japan, including Shinjuku Wald 9 and Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro.

The first chapter in this four-part series, “The Wyvern Has Landed,” was screened in 30 theaters and had a favorable box office revenue of 170 million yen. The Blu-ray version of the film that was then released after the screenings is also a big hit, with roughly 50,000 copies having been sold. With this popularity as its backdrop, the scope of chapter 2 will be even wider than the previous chapter. It seems that anticipation is also high for this film as well.

Also, as the theatrical release draws closer, new information on chapter 2 has been released. On the official site, the characters appearing in the work and the mecha Knightmare Frames have been revealed. Furthermore, varied information, such as character correlations and a summary, are being released leading up to the release. Among the news added this time, much of it centers on the characters from the Euro Britannia side. It is known that there will be a deep story related to Euro Britannia. Furthermore, reference is also made to Kururugi Suzaku of the Holy Britannian Empire.

As for the Knightmare Frames, the European Union (E.U.) has three Alexander Type-2s, and Euro Britannia has one Vercingetorix and one Liverpool. The role each of these will play will also be a highlight.

“The Torn-Up Wyvern” is the newest work in the Code Geass series. The series began in 2006 with Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and was followed up by Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. “The Torn-Up Wyvern,” which draws upon the popularity of the hugely successful TV anime series, will be the second work in the series to release theatrically.

The story of the Akito the Exiled series takes place between Lelouch of the Rebellion and Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. The setting for this work is the E.U., which is hardly shown in Lelouch of the Rebellion.

In related news, a Blu-ray box set of Lelouch of the Rebellion will go on sale on Sept. 25. Also, a screening event for the most popular episodes of the series called “‘Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion’ Selection Night” will be held on July 26. Information on ticket prices and how to purchase them will be released shortly.
