The newest anime project for the light novel Monogatari series written by author Isin Nisio is the second season of the anime for the series. The anime adaptations for the series so far are Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, and Nekomonogatari (Black), which have all received high praise. Continuing from these, the new season of Monogatari will begin broadcasting this month. For the next six months, Nekomonogatari (White), Kabukimonogatari, Hanamonogatari, Otorimonogatari, Onimonogatari, and Koimonogatari will all be made into TV anime. These much talked about works have been long awaited by fans.
On June 20, the anime’s official site was updated and a slew of new information was released at once. It was also revealed that the first new anime to broadcast will be Nekomonogatari (White). The prequel to this, Nekomonogatari (Black), began its TV broadcast and online distribution on Dec. 31, 2012 as a special program. Now, the sequel will finally be broadcast as well. The start of this new program is appropriately causing a stir among fans.
Once again, the focus for Nekomonogatari (White) will be on Hanekawa Tsubasa. Hanekawa, who was possessed by a strange cat in Nekomonogatari (Black), will once again have a strange encounter. One day, Hanekawa observes a gigantic, pure white tiger. Immediately after, mysterious fires begin occurring in the city. Hanekawa, whose house is also destroyed in the fires, once again encounters strangeness and must confront herself.
Beginning with Bakemonogatari all the way up to the newest work Koyomimonogatari, which released this May, the Monogatari series of light novels spans 15 books. The stories center on Araragi Koyomi and depict the various strange encounters the characters have.
From the beginning, the anime adaptations have been directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and produced by Shaft. The secret of their popularity lies in the successful way in which Shinbo gives movement to the written world of Nisio using a stylish feel.
The first season of the anime was shown from the point of view of Araragi, but the second season will be shown from the point of view of the heroines and will have even deeper dialogue. Be on the lookout for such differences in these six new installments in the Monogatari series.
