Kento Yamazaki Cast as Protagonist in Live-Action Movie of Popular Shoujo Manga "L-DK"

Popular shoujo manga L-DK, which has sold over 2.7 million copies, is getting its own live-action movie slated for release in spring 2014. Actress Ayame Goriki will play the female lead Aoi Nishimori. It has been announced that Kugayama Shuusei, her love interest in the movie, will be played by the young but acclaimed actor, Kento Yamazaki.

Yamazaki first gained fame for his role in the mystery horror movie Another and followed his success with roles in the drama Kuro no Onna Kyoushi and the movie Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu. He is currently starring in the drama 35-Year-Old High School Student. In L-DK, Yamazaki will play Shuusei, the handsome, tsundere "prince." Viewers can look forward to the chemistry between him and Goriki as the pair works together for the first time.

*L-DK* by Ayu Watanabe is serialized in Bessatsu Friend (Kodansha). The work has also brought in record digital sales, ranking first in the shoujo manga category for the "Digital Books Awards 2013." The romantic comedy tells the love story of a high school girl who wins everything but is late to love, and how she ends up cohabiting with the "prince" of her school.

Frank and straightforward high school girl Nishimori Aoi, known for her tomboy antics, started living under the same roof with the most popular but tsundere guy in school, Kugayama Shuusei. If she gets found out, Aoi will become the enemy of every girl in the school and will have to transfer. While Aoi does everything she can to protect her secret, Shuusei doesn't seem to care very much at all. After some time, Aoi begins to fall in love with him. However, with the appearance of Shuusei's ex-girlfriend and an upperclassman who has a crush on Aoi, things get complicated.

Yamazaki has commented on the casting, and shared his thoughts on the filming, which will begin in July:

> There is a lot of pressure playing Shuusei, who is a very popular character, but I am looking forward to it. I am reading the original work in preparation for the filming as I hope to be a natural Kugayama Shuusei in and out. It is my first time working with Goriki, and I hope that we can recreate the great chemistry between Aoi and Shuusei as well. I hope to portray the distance between the two main characters who have suddenly been forced to live together, as well as the perspective conveyed through the manga, and hope that I won't betray fans' expectations of Shuusei. I heard that director Kawamura is a really humorous guy, and I look forward to filming with him as well!
