Ayame Goriki to Play Lead Role in Upcoming Live-Action Movie Adaptation of “L-DK”!

Ayu Watanabe’s shoujo manga L-DK that is currently being serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend to favorable reactions is going to be adopted into a live-action movie. Actress Ayame Goriki will be playing the lead role, which will be her first in a movie. The filming of this much-discussed work will start this summer, and it is planned for release in spring 2014.

The title L-DK stands for “love doukyuu” (lovers living together). Goriki plays high school student Aoi Nishimori, an impulsive girl prone to recklessness, who ends up living under the same roof with the school’s most popular guy, Shuusei Kugayama, after an incident. Aoi desperately tries to keep this a secret, as being exposed would result in being expelled from school. This is a love comedy about her eventful daily life spent together with the laidback Shuusei.

The original work enjoys warm support from fans. The number of copies sold has exceeded a total of 2.7 million, and it also won the first prize in the female manga category of the “E-book Awards 2013” held by Da Vinci magazine.

The live-action movie will be directed by Yasuhiro Kawamura, who is known for Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score - Part 2 and Himitsu no Akko-chan. Yuuko Matsuda, whose past works include Gokusen, Kanna-san Daiseikou Desu!, and A Perfect Day for Love Letters, will write the script. Add to that Ayame Goriki, a popular idol who has appeared in current drama series one after another, including Antiquarian Bookshop Biblia's Case Files and Yae no Sakura. Before the release of this drama that is gorgeous all around, from the original work to the movie’s staff and cast, Goriki delivered this motivated comment:

“This is my first love story. I’ve never lived on my own, and even though they are in love, Aoi and Shuuhei’s life together is filled with super-close combat. There are a lot of scenes that make me embarrassed just by thinking about them.

“I hope it will be the kind of love everyone longs for. Since the original work is super popular, I want to play an Aoi that doesn’t betray the expectations of the original work’s fans. Please look forward to it.”
