How Much do You Know About This Year’s Snow Miku Collaborations?

Hatsune Miku began as the first Vocaloid character, and now she has become a widely popular character whose games and goods are in high demand. Miku’s momentum seems unstoppable. Evidence of this is Snow Miku, which is a collaboration that started in 2010 between Hatsune Miku and the yearly snow sculpture festival Sapporo Snow Festival, which is held in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Every year, as the Sapporo Snow Festival approaches, a new Snow Miku is unveiled. Snow Miku is reborn with a new outfit and new look, and fans’ burning excitement for the figure warms up Sapporo as if it were the middle of summer.

This year’s Snow Miku is dressed in a pure white Japanese-style kimono. Her dignified appearance is slightly different than the cheerful robustness that fans may be used to. However, the concept brings a new charm of its own. Once again, this Snow Miku is sure to be an item that fans can happily enjoy to their heart’s content.

COSPA has also introduced a collaboration T-shirt (3,045 yen) and a GRAPHIG papercraft (630 yen) of this year’s Snow Miku. The T-shirt features a cute and clean design by Yukino Tamago that is reminiscent of Hokkaido. The GRAPHIG papercraft is a deformed and stylish take on Snow Miku.

Family Mart, a popular chain of convenience stores in Japan, is also currently selling collaboration goods of this year’s Snow Miku in the form of three sweets. The collaboration sweets are Miku Turkish delights (190 yen), Miku strawberry cheesecake (270 yen), and strawberry cake wrapped in mochi (250 yen). These goods are based on the white design of this year’s Snow Miku. Once you catch sight of them in the front of the store, you will be captivated by their charm, and buying them will be nothing but a reflex.

The definitive Snow Miku collaboration item of the year is without a doubt the Miku tram, which will be running for a limited time in Sapporo until March 31. For the past two years it has collaborated with Snow Miku, and this year marks the third time that this special tram has debuted. The tram is very cute and is decked out with decals of Snow Miku in her white kimono. It features official illustrations of Miku as well as images depicting the history of the tram. What’s more, the refined voice of Saki Fujita, the voice actress for Miku, can be heard flowing through the tram. Riding this tram is an experience that no fan should go without.

With the arrival of March comes the footsteps of those coming out to greet spring. What better way to bid farewell to winter than fully enjoying the banquet of Snow Miku collaborations that are now taking place.
