Yahoo! Japan, the world’s largest search engine site, has released its list of most popular searches for 2012. Read on to find out which keywords grabbed the top spots in the game/anime category.
Ranking first again this year was One Piece. This is the third year in a row that One Piece has nabbed the top spot. Many will be glad to see that its popularity is as unshakable as ever. Ranking second was Pokemon. The new game that came out this year no doubt helped secure this spot. Ranking third was Pigg Life. More and more it seems like social game services are entering the top three. It’s safe to say that the current rankings are a reflection of the times.
Other popular searches in the game/anime category for the year include Yu-Gi-Oh!, Monster Hunter 3 (Try) G, Dragon Quest X, Kuroko’s Basketball, and Sword Art Online. The film category included the animated films The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki and Strike Witches: The Movie. The manga category was rounded out by Helter Skelter, Rurouni Kenshin, Space Brothers, and Thermae Romae.
Even though many works have been popular this year, as is to be expected, this list gathers the crème de la crème of what this year had to offer. We can’t wait to see what next year’s list has in store.
