The latest “Tonari no 801-chan+” comic is now on sale. The series is a four-frame comic (4-koma) that is about the daily life of a male otaku, Tibet, and his boys’ love (BL) obsessed girlfriend, Yaoi. Two versions of the manga were released on Nov. 30, 2012: a regular edition for 1050 yen, and a special edition for 1365 yen (both prices include tax). In commemoration of the release, an event will be held that surprised even us: a konkatsu party collaboration!
The “Tonari no 801-chan+” series has become well known because of its annual special events. This year, Aellura, a major site for otaku marriage seekers, will be helping prepare a large scale konkatsu party event. Right now, they are taking applications from female BL fans and males understanding of BL. Hopefully, otakus will find a match in time to enjoy Christmas and Comic Market 83.
Participants must be 20 - 35 years old and the men must be understanding of female BL fans. The entrance fee is 3000 yen for men and 1000 yen for woman. Everyone will receive original “Tonari no 801-chan+” goods. There are even more special favors for successfully matched couples. The application deadline is Dec. 14 and the event will be held on Dec. 22, 2012.
“Tonari no 801-chan+” was originally started on the personal blog of Ajiko Kojima, the series’ writer and illustrator. The comic has been sold since Dec. 2006 and the series has surpassed 800,000 copies. The latest comic’s special edition version will include a special booklet, “Yaoharu - BL wa Itsudatte Seishun”, with illustrations from Asumiko Nakamura, Shimoku Kio, and Koji Kumeta.
