Did you know Saint Young Men has been serialized in the monthly magazine Morning 2 since 2007? You may know the artist, Hikaru Nakamura, by another masterpiece of his, Arakawa Under the Bridge, which is currently serialized in the monthly magazine Young Gangan. Both mangas are huge hits in Japan. The huge popularity of Saint Young Men is partly due to Nakamura’s use of a comedic motif that begins with Christianity and Buddhism and incorporates religions from all over the world. The manga is popular not only in Japan, but also throughout the world.

With Saint Young Men already having been serialized for five years, fans’ wishes for an anime adaptation have finally been fulfilled. Furthermore, to the great surprise of many fans, an animated movie has also been announced. The official site for the movie has now fully opened and it’s worth checking out at least once.

On Dec. 3, 2012, the 8th volume of the comic was released along with a special edition including an OVA DVD as an extra. Those interested in anime should check it out. If you happen to enjoy it, the second OVA is now available for pre-order. It would be the perfect preparation for the movie, which will be released on May 10, 2013.
