On 17 November 2012, Mercedes-Benz released an original anime on its official Japanese site. The anime is a collaboration with Production I.G. as part of the campaign for the next generation compact car, the "NEXT A-Class".

The anime is set in Tokyo in the near future. The 6 minute vignette shows the three protagonists chasing “that thing" in Mercedes-Benz's new A-Class model. Production I.G's mastermind Mizuho Nishikubo directed the short, while top animator Kazuchika Kise took charge of the original artwork. In addition, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto of Evangelion fame designed the characters, and Kenji Kawai, composer for Ghost in the Shell, wrote the music. With this impressive lineup, the campaign is sure to not disappoint.

Mercedes-Benz will continue its collaboration with Production I.G throughout December. Keep an eye out for it!
