The Grateful Crane Wife
"On the floor was an intricate pattern of feathers, and as she worked, she plucked yet more feathers from her own breast. The cost to her was pain and loss of her own plumage, but she was ready to inflict this on herself for him."
-from The Grateful Crane on storynory.com
Inspired by the Japanese folklore, I first heard of this story through HitoshizukuP's song, "Seasonal Feathers". I fell in love with the concept, and then read the actual legend. I fell in love with the story haha
My favorite part in the folklore was how the crane was willing to give her all, even hurting herself, for her husband. She was /that/ grateful haha
Too bad the husband screwed it all up ><)/
