Shuichi Shigeno’s original work Initial D, which was serialized for 18 years beginning in 1995, is becoming a new feature-length movie. Even after the conclusion of its serialization, the series still has a deep-rooted fanbase, which cements its legendary status. Regarding the new movie, author Shigeno commented, “Frankly, I’m deeply moved,” so it looks like fans can expect big things. Directing the movie is Masamitsu Hidaka, who worked on the storyboards and production on Pokémon and Code Geass. For those who recall the excitement of the engines roaring, this is a must-see.
