Himiko
Completed in 2012. This is the drawing that decorates the front cover of the first volume of the research and study book series “The History of New Japan.” The series is just as the name implies, but it is a book intended for children that depicts the history of Japan as a manga. Because even difficult history can be easily read and understood if it’s a manga, this is placed in living rooms and at libraries so children can pursue history at any time. The series is a long-seller that began 30 years ago, and it was completely renewed in 2012. (We also produced the manga in the first volume.) The title of this brilliantly renewed first book in the series is “The Dawn of Japan.” We are very honored by this work and drew it by including our fighting spirit and love.
Himiko lived before around 1760 and was the first Queen of Japan who wrote about its history. She became a guide for those who listened to the oracles of the gods. This is because in that time, there was no higher status than being a shaman who could hear the voices of the gods. She is a greatly popular figure in Japan even to this day.
