Season 1 - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)
The Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 1 anime began airing on April 6, 2019 and ended with the season finale on September 28th, 2019. Season 1 covers the story between Chapters 1 to 52 from the Kimetsu no Yaiba manga.
It was directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Ufotable. Prior to airing of Season 1, a film titled ‘Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kyoudai no Kizuna’ which included the first five episodes was screened in Japan on March 29, 2019 for two weeks. The film was then screened later in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019 by Aniplex of America. It was later screened by Madman Entertainment in Australia on April 2, 2019. Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Funimation.
Episodes
There are a total of 26 episodes in Season 1 for this anime series. Here is a quick synonpsis of each episode in the series.
1. Cruelty
A young boy named Tanjiro Kamado finds his family slaughtered after coming back home one day. His sister, Nezuko Kamado, survived, but is turned into a Demon. A Demon Slayer, Giyu Tomioka, arrives and sends Tanjiro to see his master.
2. Trainer Sakonji Urokodaki
On the way to Mt. Sagiri, Tanjiro and Nezuko encounter the Temple Demon and defeat it. They meet with Urokodaki and he takes Tanjiro to train him.
3. Sabito and Makomo
Urokodaki accepts Tanjiro as his disciple and trains him for the Demon Slayer Corp’s Final Selection. For his final task, Tanjiro must slice a boulder with his sword.
4. Final Selection
Tanjiro must survive for 7 whole days on Mt. Fujikasane to pass Demon Slayer Corps’s Final Selection. During the selection, Tanjiro encounters the Hand Demon.
5. My Own Steel
Tanjiro and four others pass the Final Selection. Uniforms, Kasugai Crows and a piece of ore are handed out to them and they are sent home to wait for their swords.
6. Swordsman Accompanying a Demon
Tanjiro recieves his first mission and arrives at the town where young girls have been vanishing at night. Tanjiro uses his keen sense of smell to catch the Swamp Demon.
7. Muzan Kibutsuji
After defeating the Demon, Tanjiro heads to Asakusa for a new mission, but runs in to Muzan Kibutsuji living in disguise as an ordinary family man.
8. The Smell of Enchanting Blood
Muzan escapes from Tanjiro by turning a passerby into a Demon. Tamayo and Yushiro arrive at the scene and helps Tanjiro. Tamayo later explains her situation and Kibutsuji’s curse.
9. Temari Demon and Arrow Demon
Susamura and Yahaba appear and attempt to kill Tanjiro. Tanjiro, Nezuko and Yushiro attempt to fight them together.
10. Together Forever
Tamayo joins the battle and defeats Sasamura by using her Blood Demon Art. After defeating the two Demons, the siblings part ways and head to their next location.
11. Tsuzumi Mansion
The siblings meet Zenitsu, another Demon Slayer. They arrive at a mansion where they must find the young boy who had been kidnapped.
12. The Boar Bare its Fangs, Zenitsu Sleeps
Tanjiro and Inosuke Hashibara fight the Tsuzumi Demon. Meanwhile, Zenitsu encounters a Demon and loses consciousness, which brings out his true potential.
13. Something More Important than Life
Tanjiro manages to defeat the Tsuzumi Demon and leaves the mansion. He then finds a badly wounded Zenitsu protecting Nezuko’s box from Inosuke.
14. The House with Wisteria Family Crest
The wounded group follows the Kasugai crow and arrives at a house with Wisteria Family Crest. The family living here have been caring for the Demon Slayer Corps for generations and is considered a resting spot for anyone in the Corps.
15. Mount Natagumo
The group is then sent to Mt. Natagumo, where they find a terrified Demon Slayer. The group (except for Zenitsu) moves forward and finds captured Demon Slayers controlled by the Mother Spider Demon of a Spider Demon Family.
16. Letting Someone Else Go First
Tanjiro and Inosuke defeat the Mother Spider Demon, releasing their captured comrades. The Mother Demon warns them that one of the Twelve Demon Moons is on the mountain.
17. You Must Master a Single Thing
Zenitsu battles and defeats the elder brother of the spider family, but gets poisoned. To slow down the spread of the poison, he concentrates on using his breathing technique. Meanwhile, Tanjiro and Inosuke are in combat elsewhere.
18. A Forged Bond
Two Pillars, Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho arrive at the mountain to help both Zenitsu and Inosuke.
19. Hinokami
Tanjiro and Nezuko fight Rui, the true leader of the family and a member of the Demon Moons. Tanjiro struggles with Rui’s attacks until he remembers his father’s Kagura dance and incorporates it into his breathing techniques.
20. Pretend Family
Tanjiro fails to defeat Rui, though Giyu arrives just in time. Shinobu also saves another Demon Slayer using her unique poisoned blade.
21. Against Corps Rules
Tanjiro and Nezuko run away from Shinobu as she attacks Nezuko. They soon get captured by Kanao Tsuyuri and are taken back to the Demon Slayer Corp headquarters for questioning.
22. Master of the Mansion
Tanjiro explains his situation and swears that Nezuko will never hurt humans. The Master of the Demon Slayers appears and approves of the situation, though several Pillars disagree.
23. Hashira Meeting
Nezuko refuses to attack Sanemi Shinazugawa. The Master officially allows Tanjiro to travel with Nezuko again.
24. Rehabilitation Training
Tanjiro and Inosuke begin rehabilitation training to rebuild their stamina and Zenitsu joins them later on. Tanjiru continues the training, but the others stop coming because they can’t beat Kanao.
25. Tsuguko, Kanao Tsuyuri
Tanjiro finally beats Kanao which makes Zenitsu and Inosuke train harder to catch up with him. The three completely heal their wounds and are ready for their next mission.
26. New Mission
A Kasugai crow gives the group their next mission to join Kyojiro Rengoku at the Infinite Train.
