Abby Lee Trott (born May 8, 1986) is an American voice actress and singer. She comes from Attleboro, Massachusetts. Although she was born in Massachusetts, Abby has lived in several major cities in the United States and Japan, including New York and Tokyo, though she currently lives in Los Angeles, California. According to some of her social media accounts, like her official Twitter account, she is quite fond of baking, especially when it comes to cupcakes. Although she has performed voice lines for many anime characters in recent years, Abby is best known for her roles as Ivy from Carmen Sandiago, Windblade from Transformers: Power of the Primes, and Pod 153 in NieR: Automata. Recently, she has the role of Nezuko Kamado in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) anime series, as one of the core characters of the series.

Skills

Abby is an advanced player of the flute and the Shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese flute made of bamboo. She possesses basic guitar and piano language as well. In addition to her skills at playing musical instruments, she has good proficiency in the Japanese language, as she has received JLPT N2 certification. Using her superior skills in the Japanese language and her lovely voice, Abby has managed to star as a voice actress in a lot of famous anime titles. Abby has even scored a few high-profile jobs as a vocalist, though she is more active as a voice actress.

Anime Career

Abby’s career as an anime voice actress began in 2015 with her role as Veronica Liones from the popular series known as The Seven Deadly Sins (or Nanatsu no Taizai). As she gained more experience with voice acting, Abby continued to receive larger and more important roles like Yukina from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and Nezuko from Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer).

After her early success, Abby Trott voiced several characters in different anime series and managed to make a great name for herself as a voice actress globally. She has worked on more than 50 titles, with some of the more major titles listed below:

  • Nachetanya from Rokka no Yuusha (2015)

  • Pham Thi Tram from The Asterisk War: The Academy City on Water (2015-2016)

  • Yukina from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortess (2016)

  • Windblade from Transformer: Combiner Wars (2016)

  • Julieta Juris from Mobile Suit Gundam: IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS

Her most recent projects include voicing Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019) and Hojou from Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san (2019).

Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko Kamado (竈門 禰豆子 Kamado Nezuko) from Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) is the younger sister of the main character Tanjiro Kamado. Her personality is a kind and caring girl in her original human form. As a Demon, she has forgotten most of her memories as a human besides for those related to her such as Tanjiro, thus she doesn't share the same personality of her human form after she becomes a Demon, but she still retains some of her previous human emotions, we have seen her to cry when sad and also smile when she is happy.

Game Career

Abby’s great fame and success did not keep her limited to anime. In addition to voicing a lot of characters in animation, Abby has also worked with numerous game projects to voice a variety of different characters. She started off her career by voicing Kim Wu in Killer Instinct (2013). Abby later created customizable female protagonist voices in God Eater: Resurrection and God Eater 2: Rage Burst in 2015. Aside from her roles as a voice actress in video games, Abby has also performed as a vocalist as well. The game she is most likely known for is her role as a vocalist that sang the English version of “Lifelight” from Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, the most recent entry in the hit fighting game series.

According to her IMDb page, Abby sometimes also uses an alias for some of her voice roles. This alias is Alicia Stratton, in the case of the role of the English voices of Cordelia Kasukami and Moro from the series Twin Star Exorcists. An alternative spelling of the first alias (Alicia Stratten) is also credited for the roles of Laegjarn and Nanna from the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes as well.

Education and Training

Abby has studied improvisational comedy and music with the Upright Citizens Brigade. She also received training regarding camera auditioning and cold reading from the Margie Haber Studio. When it comes to training as a voice actress, Abby was trained by Roger Becker, Cathy Kalmenson, Elaine Craig and, in the case of animation voiceover specifically, Richard Horvitz -- a well-known American voice actor known for his roles as Invader Zim from the cartoon of the same name, Billy from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, and Raz from Psychonauts. In regards to college education, Abby has received a BA degree in Acting and a BA degree in East Asian Studies, both from Brandeis University.
