The Spring 2025 anime season has arrived and here at TOM we’re excited to enjoy all the new anime heading our way! As fellow otaku we’re sure that you’re just as excited as we are but we also know that sometimes it might be hard to know just where to start watching. Not to worry we’re here to help! We asked a few members of our staff to select their most anticipated watch of the season and share a little about why they’re looking forward to it. Hopefully it helps you pick your next watch and you just might find a favorite!

Kowloon Generic Romance

Name: Leon
Anime: Kowloon Generic Romance
As a fan of Jun Mayuzuki’s previous manga, “After the Rain”, I’ve patiently waited for Kowloon Generic Romance! She has a great way of crafting and illustrating tension between characters, which makes you wonder what will happen next in their relationship. Kowloon city and the truth behind the main character are intriguing mysteries that I can’t wait to watch and find out about!

The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei

Name: Agatha
Anime: The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei
This is a pretty deep cut... but old-timers like myself might remember Mouryou no Hako, a 2008 supernatural mystery anime. Very beautifully made, very weird and disturbing, and now very obscure. That show was based on a series of novels by Natsuhiko Kyogoku. And—somehow—so is this MUCH lighter-seeming new anime, which is based on a spin-off manga. I'm always happy to try out new mystery shows, and it's extra exciting to see more of the same characters after a seventeen-year gap!

Zatsu Tabi: That's Journey

Name: Travis
Anime: Zatsu Tabi: That's Journey
I'm looking forward to this anime, because it's about going on an adventure and it shows interesting places in Japan along the way. Trying new things such as traveling when you feel lost like the main character can be a good change of pace and an opportunity for self discovery.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX

Name: Takeshi
Anime: Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX
I saw an advanced screening of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- in theaters. I’ve only completed Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury before but I was relieved to find that the story could be enjoyed even if I hadn't seen the previous series, and I was sucked in by how interesting it was. The modern anime character designs, use of color and music were superb and it was extremely exciting to watch. After watching Beginning I’m looking forward to where the story is going to proceed from there and I definitely recommend it to everyone.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

Name: Hayley
Anime: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
I’m a big fan of the My Hero Academia series and one of my favorite aspects is world building. I love how much thought was put into showing how a society of heroes and villains would be structured and what it means to be a hero and put your life on the line. With Vigilantes, not only is it a prequel and a spin-off to the main series, we get to see a whole new side of the hero society. This time it’s one where being a hero comes with additional risks and challenges due to being unlicensed and therefore not technically allowed to do hero work. The tone of this anime seems a bit darker than the original series as well and I’m excited to see where it goes!

SHIBUYA♡HACHI 2nd Season

Name: Herman
Anime: SHIBUYA♡HACHI 2nd Season
My reason is that Hachiko is the cutest thing and the depiction of Shibuya is the most realistic next to the version of Shibuya in The World Ends With You, or maybe the version of Shibuya in Persona 5? Or maybe the version of Shibuya in Jujutsu Kaisen…
