Letter From the Editor

Kuro

Dear Readers,

Hello and welcome to the first issue of the TOM Zine!

I’m your editor Kuro and I’m excited to introduce the work of our team.

Here at Tokyo Otaku Mode, we are all proud otaku and one of the best things about being an otaku is sharing the things that you love with others. This is exactly what our zine aims to do in a fun and informative way.

Events are one of the highlights of being an otaku but can sometimes be intimidating for the uninitiated so we’ve decided to share a beginner’s guide to one of the biggest figure events of the year, Wonder Festival or WonFest.

We also love sharing tips and advice about living in Japan in general and so we’ve also included our “Ask TOM Senpai” column where we answer burning questions and dispel popular misconceptions about Japan life.

On a delicious note, we had the opportunity to visit a collaboration cafe and had fun looking at the ways in which the uniqueness of anime is expressed through food.

Finally, no otaku publication is complete without anime and games. This time we’re highlighting action games to keep an eye out for during the year and we’re also giving some of our staff’s top picks when it comes to anime of the new season.

We put a lot of love into this first issue so I hope you stick around and enjoy it!

Kuro
