The man behind Iron Man is billionaire playboy, businessman, and engineer Tony Stark of Stark Industries who created his powered suit of armor after receiving a chest injury during a kidnapping in which his captors tried to force him to create a weapon of mass destruction.

Iron Man is a key member of the superhero team The Avengers and features prominently in Marvel’s series of interconnected movies which include their own dedicated Iron Man series starring Robert Downey Jr.
