Also known as The Incredible Hulk, the Hulk is one of the most well-known Marvel comic book characters thanks to a hugely influential 1970s TV series starring Lou Ferrigno as well as a host of Saturday morning cartoon appearances, a movie outing in 2003 directed by Ang Lee and starring Eric Bana, and of course his role in the Marvel movies where he is played by Mark Ruffalo.

Created by Marvel legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first seen in 1962, the Hulk is the alter ego of Bruce Banner - a mild mannered scientist who transforms into a huge and angry green monster at times of emotional stress but is also a much-valued member of several superhero teams including The Avengers.
