We had the chance to speak to Mr. Yoshihiro Saimaru (Kotobukiya sculptor) who provided us with behind-the-scenes info about the figure!
**・Please tell us more about yourself. **
In addition to the Kotobukiya Cu-Poche Series, I also create weapons, bases, and other parts for a variety of figures using 3D data.
**・Which part of the figure were you most particular about? **
I was responsible for creating the base that includes Alphonse, who is nested inside. I did my best to present Alphonse’s unique shapes, the cracks and crevices in his armor, as well as the stone-like appearance and texture of the base. However, the part I was most particular about was the faces in the base where Envy served as the motif. I believe I was able to give the section both the appearance of faces and also of stones, too.
**・What was the most challenging part of creating this figure? **
Bringing everything together was the biggest challenge. After numerous attempts of trying to combine all the elements into a single base, I was finally able to come up with the final result. I think it’s an appropriate base that accurately captures the essence of “Fullmetal Alchemist.”
・A message to the fans, please.
While it is called the Edward Elric ARTFX J Limited Edition Figure, it contains much, much more than just Edward himself. I hope you can hold it in your hands, carefully examine all the incorporated elements, and enjoy owning this brilliant figure.
