Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (Anohana) is a huge hit series that was adapted into a TV anime in 2011 and a feature-length anime in 2013, and Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda (Kokosake) is a talked-about movie to be released in theaters this September. Each work shares several common staff members including director Tatsuyuki Nagai, writer Mari Okada, and character designer/chief animation director Masayoshi Tanaka. Moreover, each is set in Chichibu.
Both works are currently collaborating with Meiji Chocolate on TV commercials that are gaining buzz. The collaboration features footage from Kokosake with chocolate added in and is narrated by Ai Kayano, the voice of the heroine of Anohana, Menma.
Now, the second TV commercial in the collaboration has been released. This one continues from the first, “Jun’s Tears,” and is titled “Running Jun.” It starts by showing Jun as a young girl, and then changes completely to Jun running through the streets of Chichibu.
What comes next are the words “Adolescence isn’t so sweet” followed by a complete shift to male character Takumi Sakagami who is holding in his hand Meiji Chocolate. Jun then shouts to Takumi, “Do you want to eat together?” Another highlight is the background music, which, continuing from the first commercial, features Menma who sings the Meiji Chocolate theme song.
Yet another highlight of the commercial is Jun’s voice. In fact, this is the first time she has uttered a word. Inori Minase gives an enthusiastic performance as the voice of Jun. The anime will go on air in July.
In other news, the “Meiji x Kokosake & Anohana Receipt Drawing Campaign” for getting a QUO Card designed after the series as a present is on now until Oct. 16. This as well is drawing attention.
