Japacon TV #15 - Part 1 Introduction

A new series has begun for Japacon TV––a show that introduces subcultures of Japan, such as anime and Vocaloid, and broadcasts every Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. on BS Fuji. The episode we’d like to introduce this time is Episode 15: “This is the Way the Game Industry Thrives.” Continuing from the last episode, which introduced Japan’s figure market, this new series puts the spotlight on Japan’s game industry. Part 1 of this series focuses on an interview with Capcom, the maker of many hit game series, including Monster Hunter, and Resident Evil.

Japan’s game market includes, on the one hand, the next generation high spec home consoles Wii U, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and, on the other, the rapidly spreading platform of social games and other casual, low-cost games. Amid this, Capcom seems to be exerting themselves in how they can increase the level of satisfaction of their customers.

According Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto, in addition to users buying game discs, continuing to play those games for a long amount of time is important. Because of that, Capcom is actively promoting the concept of “one content, multi-use.” What in the world does that mean? Watch the show to find out!
