“After School Midnighters” Chosen for This Year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival

At has been announced that After School Midnighters, a fully CG anime that was released in Japan last August, will be screened at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival!

After School Midnighters was directed by Hitoshi Takekiyo. The film is an irreverent comedy starring a unique cast of characters, beginning with the main character, an anatomical model named Kunstlijk.

Since its creation in 1960, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival has been the world’s prominent animation film festival. The festival is also linked to the animation trade fair MIFA and a project market. Many people in the animation business come from all over the world to attend Annecy.

For this year’s festival, 236 films entered, and among these, After School Midnighters fought a fierce battle and was chosen for the out-of-competition category. Other Japanese films chosen in this category include Naoyoshi Shiotani’s Blood-C: The Last Dark and Tatsuya Nagamine’s One Piece Film Z.

Many even outside of the industry are waiting in anticipation to see what kind of acclaim After School Midnighters will receive at the festival.
