A new anime anthology film titled Shikioriori from animation studios CoMix Wave Films and Haoliners will have its debut in Summer 2018!
CoMix Wave Films, the studio behind popular works like 5 Centimeters Per Second and Kimi no Na wa. will be working on the anthology with Chinese-based studio Haoliners. It will consist of three stories ( Hidamari no Choushoku, Chiisana Fashion Show, and Shanghai Koi ), each taking place in three different (but very picturesque) towns in China.
Li Haoling, Yi Xiaoxing, and Takeuchi Yoshitaka will each be the directors of a specific story, with Li also serving as the general director.
As the leader of Haoliners, Li in particular has been extremely eager to work with CoMix Wave Films since watching Shinkai Makoto’s 5 Centimeters per Second almost a decade ago. His short animation Shanghai Koi is said to be a homage to that very film.
