At long last, the epic final season of Nishio Ishin’s Monogatari series, Owarimonogatari, is coming. The 7 episodes will air during a 2-hour special on Aug. 12 and 13, and the ending theme, "SHIORI" by ClariS, will be released as a single on Sept. 13.
The first and second books of Owarimonogatari were adapted into an anime that aired between October and December in 2015, and now fans will get to see the final three arcs of the final book, "Mayoi Hell", "Hitagi Rendezvous", and "Ougi Dark", in this final season. All 7 episodes will be broadcasted on Aug. 12 and 13 beginning at 7:00 pm on TOKYO MX and AbemaTV, at 8:00 pm on BS11, and 9:00 pm on Tochigi TV and Gunma TV.
A commercial for the season was also released, featuring dialogue by the main characters including Araragi Koyomi. On Mar. 13, the morning of college exams, Araragi is killed by Gaen Izuko, then taken somewhere by Hachikuji Mayoi - where someone unexpected is waiting for him.
The ClariS ending theme "SHIORI" is also being released as a single on Sept. 13. There will be a limited edition anime version that comes with a DVD of the creditless ending, a regular limited edition version that includes the music video, and a CD-only regular version.
The anime version also comes with other songs the Monogatari fans will definitely want to get their hands on including a cover of “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari” and “Naisho no Hanashi -2017 Ver.-”. The limited edition releases will be 2,000 yen, and the regular version will be 1,500 yen.
