One Piece Opening to be Performed by J-Pop Legend Amuro Namie

J-Pop legend Amuro Namie is to sing the new opening theme for the One Piece TV anime!

The new opening, which will be titled “Hope”, is the third time Amuro has collaborated with One Piece following 2013’s “Fight Together”, and 2015’s “Black Make Up” which featured in the One Piece: Adventure of Nebulandia movie.

The idea to get Amuro to return for another theme song came from the anime’s producers who hoped to bring something of Amuro’s cool, laid-back quality mixed with the classic One Piece spirit of adventure to the new theme tune.

The new opening theme, “Hope”, will debut on the upcoming one hour autumn special which is set for broadcast on Oct. 1 and will adapt a fan favorite episode from the manga in which Luffy faces off against Sanji as seen in the Whole Cake Island arc.

In a happy coincidence, 2017 marks both the 25th anniversary of Amuro’s debut, as well as the 20th anniversary of the One Piece anime. The creation of "Hope" was definitely a fantastic way to celebrate!
