Kuroko’s Basketball The Movie: Last Game Premiered on Mar. 18!

Kuroko’s Basketball The Movie: Last Game premiered in Japan on Mar. 18, and to celebrate the occasion, key cast members gathered in a fan meeting at Shinjuku's Piccadilly to speak to fans!

Written by Fujimaki Tadatoshi, Kuroko’s Basketball was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2009 to 2014. This sports manga, which had three anime seasons and a three-part film series, has also sold an impressive 30 million copies. This newest film, a sequel that takes place a year after the end of the series, is an adaptation of the Kuroko’s Basketball: Extra Game manga.

Nine cast members (Ono Kensho, Ono Yuki, Kamiya Hiroshi, Suwabe Junichi, Ono Daisuke, Kimura Ryouhei, Suzumura Kenichi, Midorikawa Hikaru, Inada Tetsu) and director Tada Junsuke appeared on stage to speak on their love for the series and the film.

Ono (who plays protagonist Kuroko Tetsuya) had an especially heartfelt message to convey. “I’m really happy to have worked on Kuroko’s Basketball. The series is amazing, but I think this movie is the best Kuroko chapter released yet.” He continued on to say, “It’s already been six years since the beginning, and I’ve participated in so many different events and shows. After all this time, the series has grown into something truly important for me.”

At the end, Ono encouraged everyone to enjoy the final chapter of Kuroko’s Basketball and hopes that loyal fans will love it as much as he does!
