Throughout February the Sanrio theme park Harmonyland held a contest to see which of eight character-themed dishes was the most popular with fans with the winners becoming part of the regular menu. There were two different categories - one for popularity on social media and another for the dishes with the most orders. The same dish came top in both categories - Pompompurin Hash Beef Rice!

The Pompompurin Hash Beef Rice and second place winners Cinnamon Cream Cheese Rice and Gudetama Omelette Rice will be on sale at the park from March 18!

Each of the dishes is themed around the characters’ familiar color scheme with their faces in the center. The My Melody dish comes in her iconic pink with her face on the rice tower, contrasting completely with the deep black of the Badtz Maru curry and the healthy greenness of the Keroppi herb rice which even has his cute pink cheeks and crossed eyes. Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, by contrast, are seen from the back sitting on the Yume Star Cloud cleverly made out of omelette.
The Hello Kitty baked cheese rice dish takes on a cute pink theme with her face in the middle and colorful hearts at the top. Double category winner Pompompurin is an impressive looking dish with the yellow rice in the middle and his trademark brown beret at the top. Appropriately enough, the Gudetama dish takes a much more relaxed approach with Gudetama’s own face on the omelette and a strip of bacon over the top but Cinnamoroll rounds things out nicely with an all white cream cheese theme.
All the dishes look so tasty! They’re so cute you might not be able to bring yourself to eat them though. At least you can Instagram them first…
