It’s no surprise that Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale continues to top the box offices in Japan for the second week in a row! As of Feb. 28, the film was rewarded with the continued popularity of countless fans as its box office revenue numbers broke the 1 billion yen mark with over 700,000 tickets sold. These numbers have grown exponentially since its opening weekend, which reported 425 million yen in revenue with over 300,000 tickets sold.
And now, lucky moviegoers from Mar. 4 onwards are also receiving a rare present from Sword Art Online’s author Kawahara Reki. Theaters are distributing a specially-written short story by Kawahara titled Sword Art Online: Hopeful Chant, which holds 100 pages that’ll give you a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the film.
Two stories for the price of one movie ticket - plus, the cover is illustrated by artist abec, who has drawn plenty of gorgeous art for the Sword Art Online series in general! What could possibly be better than that?
