Science hasn’t quite progressed to the point where we can view large-scale mechas pummeling each other in a special colosseum...but we do have the next best thing! Misumi Group, a robot manufacturing and advancement company, is yet again hosting several robo-fighting tournaments. This time, diligent robot enthusiasts will gather at the Kobe Youth Science Museum to see if their creation will walk away victorious.
The different tournaments are called 30th Robo-One, 14th Robo-One Light, and Robo-One Auto. Each one is limited to a certain number of participants, with 128 entries, 92 entries, and 16 entries, respectively.
Since the very first Robo-One is 2002 (which marks a very exciting 15th anniversary this year), participants from both inside and outside Japan have gathered with one goal in mind: creating the strongest robot that’ll prevail over all the others. In all, 236 robots and their creators will be gathered over a two-day period to see how far their hard work compares to others.
If you happen to be the area, be sure to check out the Robo-One tournament dates below and stop by! There’s no entry fee, and with over 200 robots gearing up to fight, there’s bound to be hours of entertainment for everyone.
■ About Robo-One
Robo-One, which began in 2002, is a tournament where individuals from all over the world can attend to see which of their robots is better in an old-fashioned robot throwdown! Each round lasts around three minutes, where onlookers get to see just how well robots have been programmed to punch, throw, and more. The strongest robot that lasts the most rounds is the winner of the tournament.
