All-new Ghost in the Shell Live-Action Trailer Released!

Ghost in the Shell has always been a monumental series in the sci-fi realm, but it’s been gathering even more attention since Steven Spielberg acquired the rights for a live-action adaptation in 2009, followed by the announcement that DreamWorks would produce it and Paramount Pictures would distribute it.

A fully-loaded trailer has now been released. It begins with the well-known falling scene, and follows it up with a number of clips that’ll delight fans. There’s also an incredible clip of Major’s mask being taken off by a character who’s thought to be Kuze.

Scarlett Johansson, well-known as Black Widow in the Avengers series, is starring as Major. Acting as her boss, Aramaki, is one of Japan’s foremost directors, as well as an internationally acclaimed actor, Beat Takeshi. The revolutionary Kuze, who serves an especially important role in Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG, is played by Michael Pitt, also known for his work as a musician. Major’s right-hand man, Batou, is played by Pilou Asbæk ( Lucy ). The film-original character Dr. Ouelet will be played by French actress Juliette Binoche ( Chocolat ).

There’s a lot of great scenes in the trailer like Major dealing an incredible blow to someone, a character with an eyepatch expected to be Saito stepping out of a helicopter with Batou, and plenty of fighting. One of the last scenes shown is an incredible one of Kuze removing a part from Major’s face and saying, “They did not save your life. They stole it.” See it for yourself below!
