Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, Minase Inori and More Commended at Seiyuu Awards 2016

On March 12, 2016, the 10th Seiyuu Awards honoring the best voice actors and actresses in Japan was held. Taking home the Best Voice Actor Award was Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, best known to the Western audience perhaps for his role as Kirito in Sword Art Online. Matsuoka will also reprise his leading role as Yukihira Soma in Shokugeki no Soma or Food Wars in summer 2016. Clinching the Best Voice Actress Award was Minase Inori, who most recently caught the attention of fans last year as the cute goddess Hestia in the DanMachi anime.

Meanwhile, the Personality Award went to veteran voice actor Suzumura Kenichi, whose most popular roles include Okita Souji from Gintama and Hitachiin Hikaru from Ouran High School Host Club. He is also currently taking Japan by storm as Iyami from popular anime Osomatsu-san. Meanwhile, his co-star in Osomatsu-san, Kamiya Hiroshi, who voiced Choromatsu, won the Voters' Choice Award for the record-breaking fifth consecutive year. Kamiya's popularity in Japan is no wonder to most with his recent, iconic roles being well-known characters such as Orihara Izaya from the Durarara!! series, Yato in Noragami and Levi from Attack on Titan.
