The Monogatari series is author NisiOisin’s masterpiece series. Countless episodes from the series have been adapted into anime to date, winning huge popularity. Now there is a long-awaited anime adaptation on the way for Kizumonogatari, which tells the origins of a story depicted in the middle of the Monogatari series. Even more than this, it’s a big project spanning three theatrical movies. The first, Kizumonogatari Part 1: Tekketsu-hen (Blood and Iron), will be released on Jan. 8, 2016, and already the release schedule of part 2 has been announced. Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu-hen (Passionate Blood) will have a roadshow release across Japan next summer. The movie will once again be distributed by Toho Visual.
On the release date of Tekketsu-hen sales will begin for movie tickets and special advance tickets with a bonus item to Nekketsu-hen. Tickets cost 1,300 yen (including tax) and the bonus is a clear file. After watching part 1 you’ll be able to purchase advance tickets to part 2 right on the spot.
The story of Tekketsu-hen begins with second year high school student Koyomi Araragi meeting Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade one evening during spring break. Kiss-shot happens to be a legendary vampire. This is where the story of Araragi begins.
There hasn’t been any news on how the story will be divided between the three parts ahead of the release of part 1, but a magnificent story will unfold so it seems there is much to look forward to.
