2016 marks the momentous 20th anniversary of the Detective Conan anime series. The movie series released annually has also reached its 20th movie, the release date for which has been slated for April 16, 2016. The title is yet to be revealed, but a visual was released to stir up anticipation for this newest movie. The backside shows a full lineup of members of the Black Organization, Conan’s rivals. The probability is high that the focus in the new movie will be on the Black Organization, which has held an important role thus far in Detective Conan.
The illustration released this time has been dubbed the “black” visual. The front shows Conan with a defiant expression. To the side are the codenames of members of the Black Organization: Gin, Vodka, Vermouth, Chianti, Korn, Kir, and Bourbon. At the bottom is the name Rum, who isn’t talked about much in the original story.
And what could the catchphrase “The sanctuary door opens” mean? It seems we are in store for new developments. The back of the poster features a grouping of seven Black Organization members. Gin’s bold smile foreshadows a turbulent story.
There are also plans to distribute this visual in the form of a flyer. The flyers are limited to 96,960 in relation to the Black Organization and will be available in theaters throughout Japan on Nov. 7. A promotional video titled “Black Movie” is also available to watch online now. The final part of the video reveals that the word “black” will appear somewhere in the movie’s subtitle.
Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno, the 19th movie in the series released this year, brought in the highest box office earnings for the series so far at 4.47 billion yen. With the last three movies in the series setting box office records, high expectations are forming for the newest movie as well. A direct showdown between Conan and the Black Organization is on the horizon. Make sure not to miss any of the news to come.
