Part 4 of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” Gets First Anime Adaptation; Josuke HIgashikata, Crazy Diamond Come to Life

Diamond Is Unbreakable, part 4 of Hirohiko Araki’s popular manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is getting a TV anime. This news was announced at the special JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders event “The Last Crusaders” held on Oct. 24 at the Tokyo International Forum.

Though the event has “The Last” in its name, there is still more to come from the anime. On the same day as the event, the official site was updated with a teaser confirming the anime. In just under a day after its release, the video surpassed 650,000 views.

The video is about 45 seconds long and indicates the story will continue from part 3, Stardust Crusaders. A production timetable, staff, and other information wasn’t released at this time; the only thing we get a peek at is that it will follow from the first two seasons. Also yet to be revealed is the broadcast start date. Additional specifics will be released at any time through the official site and in the magazine Ultra Jump (Shueisha). Make sure to check these for any new activity.

Diamond Is Unbreakable, the fourth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure confirmed as the new anime to be adapted, followed up part 3 Stardust Crusaders and began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1992. The serialization lasted three years until 1995.

The story also takes place in time following Stardust Crusaders and begins with Jotaro Kujo, the protagonist of part 3, showing up in the town of Morioh in S-City, M-Prefecture in search of Joseph Joestar’s illegitimate son, Josuke Higashikata. New battles unfold with the “Bow and Arrow,” which creates Stand users, at the center. Another point not to overlook is that contrary to parts 1–3 which don’t use Japan much as a setting, Japan is a major setting in part 4.

Though anime adaptations of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure have been frequent, this will be the first for Diamond Is Unbreakable. Fans have certainly been waiting a long time to see an animated Josuke and his Stand Crazy Diamond.
