Anime studio MAPPA ( Yuri!!! on Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen ) is teaming up with Tiger & Bunny scriptwriter Masafumi Nishida for an original water polo-themed anime titled RE-MAIN!
Nishida is credited as RE-MAIN's co-creator, chief director, scriptwriter for all episodes, and audio director. Kiyoshi Matsuda will direct the series, which will feature character design by Shiho Tanaka and music by Kana Utatane (TaWaRa).
RE-MAIN follows a high school boy named Minato who takes up water polo again, having quit the sport in his final year of middle school. However, he must face new difficulties alongside his new teammates.
The following cast members have been announced: Yuto Uemura as protagonist Minato Kiyomizu, Kotaro Nishiyama as Eitaro Oka, Minato's friend from middle school, Subaru Kimura as club captain Jo Jojima, and Lynn as famous water player Chinu Kawakubo, who is aware of Minato’s past.
RE-MAIN will air in 2021.
