Inuyasha Back With Sequel Set For Autumn 2020!

Classic manga Inuyasha is getting a spinoff anime set for broadcast this fall!

Titled Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the sequel will follow the daughters of Inuyasha and his half-brother Sesshoumaru: Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha.

Half-youkai twins Towa and Setsuna are separated after the former accidentally travels from the Sengoku period to present-day Japan through a mysterious tunnel, and is taken in by Kagome's brother. Left in the past, Setsuna comes to work as a demon slayer under Kohaku.

Meanwhile, Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, also spends her days slaying demons. Ten years after Towa's sudden departure, the tunnel once again opens and the other two girls also find themselves in the present-day. But despite the twins' reunion, Setsuna has no memory of her long-lost sister.

Satou Teruo will direct the spinoff, with Sumisawa Katsuyuki for series composition and original author Takahashi Rumiko for main character design. Hishinuma Yoshihito will handle animation character design, and Wada Kaoru will provide music. Sunrise is set to produce the anime.

Beginning with Takahashi Rumiko's popular fantasy manga, the story of Inuyasha unfolds between the present and the Sengoku Era, in which yokai run rampant. The original TV anime adaptation began in 2000, leading to four theatrical movies.

In celebration of the announcement, the May 13 issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday will come with a bonus Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon poster illustrated by Takahashi Rumiko.
