Otomo Katsuhiro’s iconic ‘80s manga Akira will be getting a new anime project!
A 4K remaster of the original Akira movie will also be released on Blu-Ray on April 24, 2020.
Akira was originally serialized in Young Magazine from 1982 to 1990 and received an anime movie adaptation in 1998, also directed by Otomo. Set in 2019's "Neo Tokyo", it is recognized internationally for launching Japan's cyberpunk genre.
