GeGeGe no Kitarou Releases Key Visual For New Arc!

The GeGeGe no Kitarou TV anime is set to head into a new arc from Oct. 7, and a new visual has been released to whet fans' appetites for Kitarou's next adventures!

TItled “Seiyou Youkai-hen”, the next arc will begin in episode 27, which will see the first appearance of legendary Western youkai Backbeard. A witch named Agnes has run away to Japan, having stolen a precious treasure of the Western youkai world, the Ring of Arcana. Backbeard wants the ring back and drags his minions over to Japan to get it.

In addition to releasing the key visual for the upcoming arc, the show has also released a number of screenshots from episode 23 (to be broadcast on Sept. 2), set partly in 1968.

In the episode, the owners of a newly built apartment are plagued by three kinds of youkai - Rokurokubi, Akaname, and Karakasa-obake. The years pass and the original couple’s granddaughter Natsumi is still living in the apartment. Natsumi has decided to knock the apartment down and move somewhere else with her fiancé but is visited by Kitarou, who asks her to reconsider.

GeGeGe no Kitarou airs on Fuji TV on Sundays at 9:00 pm.
