Summer is a time for campfires and ghost stories, and anime certainly has its share of unforgettable ghostly characters to talk about! From the spooky and dangerous to funny, sweet, and lovable, they cover the whole spectrum. That doesn’t mean we can’t try to figure out our favorites, though, and this list of the top anime ghosts sets out to do just that.

There’s quite a range of characters so far, with even a Pokémon making it into the list! Many of these ghosts look just like, well, spooky ghosts, but what about the top 3?
3. Menma, Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Coming in 3rd with 10% of the vote is Honma Meiko, better known as Menma, of Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day! There’s no denying that Menma was (and in some ways, still is!) the heart and soul of her group of childhood friends, and she effortlessly won over the hearts of fans all over the world with her pure love for Jinta. This is certainly a bittersweet victory, and we’re still missing you, Menma!
2. Yunohana Yuuna, Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs
Following up in 2nd with a decent 12% of the vote is the lovely Yunohana Yuuna of Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs. The anime's titular ghost lives at Yuragi-sou, and she’s ridiculously sweet and charming. Easily one of her cutest traits is how she accidentally causes things to move telepathically when she gets embarrassed!
1. Ibuki Fuko, Clannad
Finally, coming in 1st place with 15% of the vote is Ibuki Fuko of Clannad! Even after many years, this series and Fuko's story still resonates with fans. Despite her unforgettably sad past, there are also bright moments for the starfish-obsessed Fuko, many of which show just how adorable she is!
It seems that the characters with that perfect blend of a bittersweet background story and unique charm are the ones that really stick to our hearts. Do you think there were any great ghostly characters who missed out?
