On May 27, car enthusiasts will gather to show off their beloved itasha at ARC Championship V at Okuibuki Motor Park in Maibara.
Itasha are cars that have elaborate exteriors themed after characters from anime, manga, games, and other forms of media. It has become an increasingly popular hobby in the last decade or so.
The ARC Championship V will give visitors the chance to admire 120 impressive itasha for free. The event (and others) meet in different areas of Japan each year, and those in attendance are met with unique and gorgeous tributes to characters from popular series like K-On! and Love Live!, as well as from other areas of Japanese pop culture, like the beloved Vocaloid diva Hatsune Miku and hit game Splatoon.
