Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, Japanese indie game studio Cherrymochi has teamed up with Studio Enix Collective to release the anime-style psychological adventure game Tokyo Dark on Sept. 7, 2017.

This is the first time Square Enix Collective has picked up an indie game for distribution and will release the game in both English and Japanese language versions via PC gaming system Steam.

Set in modern day Tokyo, Tokyo Dark follows lead character Detective Ito as she investigates the mysterious disappearance of her partner. As Ito ventures deeper into her investigation she explores various urban legends and is forced to make some tough ethical choices.

Drawing inspiration from games such as Heavy Rain, Clock Tower, The Blackwell Legacy, and Higurashi When they Cry, Tokyo Dark features a branching narrative with multiple endings.

Tokyo Dark blends point and click with visual novels in a side scrolling investigation game in which the player follows clues and solves puzzles which have a real effect on the game’s outcome. For a taste of what it'll be like, check out the announcement below!
