The event also featured Kubota Masataka (Kaneki Ken), director Hagiwara Kentarou, and producer Nagae Tomohiro as guests. Kubota, a great fan of the series himself, even greeted the audience in English.

After the end, the three guests returned with Kubota wearing the mask of his movie counterpart. Needless to say, he was rewarded with a thunderous applause!

Nagae was especially surprised at the amount of fans cosplaying as Kaneki and commented, “What I found the most surprising is how everyone loves Tokyo Ghoul. I thought Kubota would be the only Kaneki, but I’ve seen about 30 just today!”

Another thing he didn’t expect was how the audience laughed at the last serious scene. As he was mentioning it, Kubota took an opening and jokingly inserted, “That’s serious!”, causing fans to once again burst into laughter.

Following this successful U.S. premiere, Tokyo Ghoul will have its European premiere on July 7 in Berlin, Germany and its Japanese premiere on July 10.
