The Pac-Man rickshaw which proved such a big Christmas hit in Tokyo is about to hit Osaka!
1980s arcade game phenomenon Pac-Man is loved the world over and so last year creators Bandai Namco came up with a fun idea to bring joy to the streets of Tokyo tourist spot Asakusa by turning one of the area’s famous rickshaws into a two meter tall Pac-Man. The Pac-Man rickshaw became a big local hit last Christmas as well as making a splash online. This unique mode of transportation is set to hit Osaka on March 25-26, bringing its retro charm to the city of takoyaki!
The pixelstick long exposure photo display is set to feature a Pac-Man themed message reading “Hello Osaka” with the cookies which Pac-Man is chasing in the game turned into Osaka’s famous local delicacy - takoyaki.
The rickshaw will also be handled by drivers wearing takoyaki hats covered with sauce, mayonnaise, and even aonori powder to recreate the authentic Osaka takoyaki experience.
It turns out even Pac-Man can’t resist the lure of authentic takoyaki! He’ll be out to gobble up the people of Osaka from March 25 - 26, 2017.
