The Neko Atsume live-action movie Neko Atsume no Ie is set for release on April 8, and the latest trailer is packed with almost more cats than protagonist Sakumoto Masaru can handle! (♡´艸`)
The film Neko Atsume no Ie will follow Sakumoto Masaru (Ito Atsushi), a novelist dealing with writer’s block. The film begins with him being visited by a cat as he struggles to find happiness, even after moving to a relaxing new area in an attempt to turn over a new leaf. Filling the director's chair is Kurakata Masatoshi, known for his work as assistant director on the films Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu, Maiko Haaaan!!!, and Nakumonka. He made his feature-length directing debut with Railways: Ai wo Tsutaerarenai Otona Tachi e. Nagamori Yuji, who's known for works like Gachiban and Nekozamurai, is in charge of the film's planning and script-writing.
Just like the Neko Atsume game, the film's latest trailer is positively bursting with cats! Cinnamon is the feline actor behind the game's popular Cocoa character, and he's joined by a cast of cat co-stars who've all appeared in famous movies and drama series, and each has their own unique personality. There are plenty of moments where the screen is totally filled with fluffy felines, but don't miss the adorable scene featuring Sakumoto (Ito Atsushi) blowing bubbles as he's gazed at by a crowd of cats! ♡ Naturally, the cats play a huge role in this film, but it also stars a varied human cast including Kimura Tae as pet shop owner Yoko, Okubo Kayoko as a quirky realtor, Taguchi Tomorowo as Michiru's senior editor Asakusa, and Kutsuna Shiori as editor Michiru.
Neko Atsume no Ie will have a Japan-wide roadshow release starting at the Shinjuku Musashinokan on Saturday, April 8, 2017.
